After telling a small lie that turned out to be big, Emily Allen, a gullible management analyst  from Fountain Valley, California, winds up unconscious at the local drugstore and must overcome (his/her/their) cowardice in order to win a contest or competition and discover the truth about a long-vexing mystery.
